Weekly "this artist keeps me sane"...

Is a week overdue. But don't worry, you'll get over it.

This week it's gone to canadian "skunk rockers" The Flatliners. I picked up their album The Great Awake recently from Real Groovy, and it's evidently had decent playtime since. There's a definite progression from their gritty skacore days, and this album is closer to the melodic punk rock side they had hiding away in their earlier album Destroy to Create, though it still occasionally dips and dives into punchy ska/reggae. The maturity is further built by a subtle indie-rock tone that develops a sound reminiscent of those beardy, "orgcore" style melodic hardcore bands. If any of that sounded great to you, give them a listen. You'll love it. You'll laugh, you'll cry, it'll change your life.
